Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris & Hydrochoerus isthmius

These are both species of capybara, with the former being known as common capybaras or just "capybaras". The one on the right is the lesser capybara, a closely related species that inhabits Panama and Colombia.

Both are the greatest animals ever.

Capybara Walking (1887)

This is one of the oldest motion pictures in the world and depicts a capybara walking.

Capybaras usually operate in small groups of 6 to 12 of mostly females with an alpha male.

When a drought occurs, they unite their many capy clans into one group, numbering up to 200 (half of which are young or elderly) in search of water. They are loosely led by one of the alpha capybaras known as a

SIGMA CAPYBARA

A sigma capybara puts his life on the line to protect hundreds but many will die in the migration. The search for water is perilous, and often a sigma capybara will die by taste testing the water, and may be replaced by any alpha capybara. They only stop to cool down before marching on for waters, sometimes for days, regardless of the losses.

Sometimes one must risk themselves for the betterment of all.

Sigma capybaras know that.

Capybaras are altogether rather excellent. They can run and swim up to 40 kilometers per hour and often do.

Capybaras are well known in South America for crop depredation; they consume rice to a ridiculous degree.
